Ebook About
Orion:When the Alpha Zane Bereket goes missing, it’s up to me to find him. As a Beta Wolf and Kor’s second-in-command, leaving the compound is dangerous, but Zane is the one Alpha who has always been under my skin. And in spite of knowing we can never bond, I couldn’t live with myself if I couldn’t bring him home alive.Luckily, Zane’s brother has a plan. He’s concocted a formula which will allow me to pass as an Omega and steal the information from the city on who has been taking our Wolves and where. What neither of us knows is whether or not I’ll be strong enough to rescue him as an Omega, and whether or not I’ll make it back before Zane's lost to me for good.Zane:For months, my world has been nothing but blood and violence. I have long-since lost track of anything except the beast inside me, and obeying the commands of my human Masters. But when a new Wolf turns up and takes me from that place, I realize there’s more to who I am than just a monster. His scent is familiar—and yet entirely new. This Omega is different, and he just might be the only thing that can bring back the Wolf I once was.Beast of Burden is the second book in a Dystopian MM Werewolf trilogy featuring A/B/O hierarchy with no mpreg, mild violence, and a happily ever after. The Carpe Noctem books do not stand alone and should be read in order.

Book Beast of Burden (Carpe Noctem Book 2) Review :

*I received and ARC copy of this in exchange for a honest review.*So I had received this as an ARC first. Then I found out that my mom had actually purchased this as well. So, I've read it twice now within the past week. Just to see if there were differences between the two. There weren't.. at least not really. There were less spelling errors in the final copy (this one) than there was in the ARC but that's to be expected. Now on to the main review..Zane is a Wolf who has fought in the previous war, he fought alongside Orion and Kor. He's seen wolves broken, bruised, dead, and alive. He thought he saw it all. All of the torture that humans could inflict on his kind but he was wrong. They were so much worse than he originally thought. How he found that out? They captured him and turned him into their new lab experiment, they stripped him of his humanity. Everything that makes him human they tried to take away for him. They turned him into an animal that only craves blood and death. The humans who captured him thought they achieved in turning him into a complete animal. They were wrong.Orion is a beta wolf. The Alpha's second in command. When Kor tells him about Danyal's experiment in trying to manipulate wolf DNA he isn't on board with that plan at all. Then Zane gets captured and everything changes.. Orion sets off on a rescue mission not knowing what the end result will be, but willing to risk it anyway. My thoughts on the story is this: I loved it so much! The complexity of characters was brilliant! The world building is great as well, it felt as though I could picture where they were throughout the whole story. I loved how Orion is so close with Kor, how they're not afraid to share their emotions with each other. I also enjoyed how Ariel Miller wrote about the sibling relationships between Zane and his siblings, I really thought that was great. There was never really a character that showed up and didn't play a part in the telling of this story. My favorite part of this book happened about halfway through. I would disclose what that part is but then it would spoil it for you! I'm really intrigued by this series and I'm so looking forward for more installments! Also, fair warning, you might want to have a box of tissues handy. I almost cried when Orion found Bryn. And then more when Bryn didn't survive. I really hope all of the captured Wolves get rescued at some point! I guess that means I will just have to keep reading so I can find out if that happens.I highly recommend you get this. You won't regret it.
Let me start by saying this series is not for the faint of heart. It will grab hold of you, twist and squeeze, and just when you think it’s done, start all over again. I freaking LOVE it, especially how each couple finds their own HEA amidst the chaos—sometimes by the tips of their claws but they still find it—but I. Have. To. Know. How. It. Ends. The angst of waiting for the final resolution is causing me to go gray. I guess that’s what colors are for.“We were Alpha and Beta—two Wolves that were never meant to mate, but it was like he was carved into a shape that fit against my own more perfect than anyone else had ever been.” Gah, these two, they hold my battered yet beating heart in their hands. Zane’s story tore my heart to shreds and Orion’s quest to save him smashed them even further. What put me back together and made me whole was their unshakable connection and drive to care for one another, their constant and deep love, their burning, out-of-this-world intense chemistry and the peace they find together. Orion and Zane dazzle the senses as does this magnificent world that Ariel Millar has meticulously built. Hang on to everything when you read, it’s one wild, amazing ride and it’s not over yet.
